MANCHESTER
AIRPORT - Following closure and relocation of all South Side
based general aviation facilities in the Summer of 1998, to make way
for the construction of Manchester's Second Runway (06R/24L), Ravenair
moved its main operations base, including flight training and aircraft
engineering to Liverpool Airport.
Ravenair no longer provides training at Manchester Airport, however
for the benefit of the residents of the Greater Manchester Region, the
company established a flying training base at Manchester-Barton which
became operational in July 2005.
The company continues to operate on-demand air charter services from
Manchester Airport, basing one or more aircraft there, subject to customer
requirements.
Ravenair's Manchester-based customers include the many airlines and
maintenance organisations which operate within the UK and Europe, along
with specialist medical transplant organisations responsible for the
urgent transfer of human organs.
To cater for the urgent nature of the business, Ravenair operations
is on call 24-hours a day, ensuring a rapid response to any request
for the swift transfer of urgent airline 'Aircraft-On-Ground' (AOG)
time-critical components, together with aircrew / engineering staff
positioning flights, medical repatriation and human organ flights. |
