Flight Training
National Private Pilot's Licence (NPPL)
This is mainly a 'leisure' licence that is restricted to UK airspace only. In the cockpit students are taught basic handling of the aircraft, emergency
procedures and cross-country navigation skills.
Ground School subjects, which form part of the PPL Course, feature written exams
of the multiple choice style.
Requirements for obtaining a NPPL:
- Minimum of 32 hours flight training:
- 22 hours dual training
- 10 hours solo(including 5 hours solo cross-country flight time)
- One Cross Country flight of at least 100nm, during which a full stop landing at two different aerodromes different from the aerodrome of departure.
- Passing all 6 PPL multiple choice written exams (75% or higher):
- Aviation Law and Operational Procedures
- Meteorology
- Navigation and Radio Aids
- Human Performance and Limitations
- Aircraft General and Principles of Flight
- Flight Performance and Planning
- Medical Declaration from GP
- Radiotelephony Licence - 2 Parts: Written Exam and Oral Exam
- Passing the airborne Navigation Flight Test and General Flight Test with a Flight Examiner
