Part-FCL Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL)

The Part-FCL PPL(A) allows you to fly EASA aeroplanes registered in the EU and non-EASA aeroplanes registered in the UK provided that you maintain a valid medical certificate and necessary ratings. The privileges of this licence allow you to fly privately (not for remuneration or for any commercial operation), except that a PPL holder who holds a valid flight instructor (FI) or Flight Examiner (FE) certificate may be paid to give instruction in flying or conduct skill tests, as applicable.

Students are taught general handling of the aircraft, emergency procedures and cross-country navigation skills. Ground School subjects, which form part of the PPL course, feature written exams of the multiple choice style.

Requirements for obtaining a PPL:

Minimum of 45 hours flight training:

• 25 hours dual training.

• 10 hours solo(including 5 hours solo cross-country flight time).

• One Cross Country flight of at least 150nm, during which a full stop landing at two different aerodromes different from the aerodrome of departure takes place.

Pass all 9 PPL multiple choice written exams (75% or higher):

• Air Law

• Operational Procedures

• Meteorology

• Navigation

• Flight Performance and Planning

• Human Performance & Limitations

• Principles of Flight

• Aircraft General Knowledge

• Communications (usually carried out as part of the Radiotelephony Licence)

Radiotelephony Licence – 2 parts: Written Exam and Oral Exam

Pass the final Skills Test with a Flight Examiner
